The Light Bulb Flickers…..ON

Posted by redsatellite on July 17, 2008

Europeans may be waking up to the mayhem born from radical Islam. FINALLY.

Europeans are increasingly lashing out at the construction of mosques in their cities as terrorism fears and continued immigration feed anti-Muslim sentiment across the continent.

The latest dispute is in Switzerland, which is planning a nationwide referendum to ban minarets on mosques. This month, Italy’s interior minister vowed to close a controversial mosque in Milan.

Some analysts call the mosque conflicts the manifestation of a growing fear that Muslims aren’t assimilating, don’t accept Western values and pose a threat to security. “It’s a visible symbol of anti-Muslim feelings in Europe,” says Danièle Joly, director of the Center for Research in Ethnic Relations at the University of Warwick in England. “It’s part of an Islamophobia. Europeans feel threatened.”

Liberal dolts like Ms Joly love to throw the word ‘Islamophobia’ into the discussion to automatically couch and frame their argument. As if to say: the peasant hordes are overreacting…how stupid and oafish!

Well guess what you pandering moral relativists- it’s a fear based on facts. And people are DAMN tired of the terrorism- you boorish sycophants.

Some moderate Muslims say those against building more mosques sometimes have legitimate concerns.

My God….someone give THEM a platform. That’s a refreshing voice in the wilderness!

Providing Sanctuary to Drug Dealers

Posted by redsatellite on July 1, 2008

No…I’m NOT kidding. That’s how pathetic San Francisco has become. Reason #4,589…why I left California. Moral equivalency run amok.

An effort by San Francisco to shield eight young Honduran crack dealers from federal immigration officials backfired when the youths escaped from Southern California group homes within days of their arrival, officials said Monday.

The walkaways are the latest in a string of embarrassments for city officials who are protecting illegal-immigrant drug dealers from federal authorities and possible deportation because of San Francisco’s 1989 declaration that the city is a sanctuary for undocumented immigrants.

Yes…you read that correctly. Keeping crack dealers who are ILLEGAL aliens in the United States is more important than deporting them. How twisted is that?

When federal law enforcement authorities demanded that San Francisco halt the flights and began a criminal investigation, the city decided to house some of the dealers in long-term youth rehabilitation centers. Some of those centers are run by a nonprofitcompany called Silverlake Youth Services in mountain towns southeast of San Bernardino.

Eight Honduran juveniles who had been convicted of dealing drugs in San Francisco were sent within the past few weeks to the company’s group homes, where one month’s placement costs $7,000 per youth - an expense borne by San Francisco taxpayers.

Um….I’m speechless.

Who’s Your Daddy Mexico

Posted by redsatellite on May 23, 2008

What with Juan McAmnesty employing Juan Hernandez in his campaign and George Bush doing all he can to send hundreds of MILLIONS of $$$$, Mexico is on a roll. In a violent leftwing corrupt country like El Me-he-co…times are good.

A southern Mexican town’s 15-member police force has quit for fear of being assassinated in retaliation for a shootout with gunmen, a security official said Thursday.Zirandaro was the second town in less than two weeks to be left without its police force as Mexico’s drug cartels wage increasingly bold attacks against security forces.

On Monday, the military took over a town near Texas after all 20 of its police officers were either killed, run out of town or quit.

Uh…is Mexico doing anything about it? You silly Gringo- of course not- I just told you, Dubya is….pay attention!

President Bush’s administration has pushed Congress to approve an initial US$550 million (euro349 million) to help fight drug crime in Mexico and Central America.

Democrats and Republicans- clueless in 2008.

Dragged Kicking and Screaming…

Posted by Mark on February 7, 2008

…I endorse John McCain for President.

(This endorsement, and $1.85 will get you a cup of coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts.)

I don’t really have a choice, now do I?

In the end, I always ask myself:

Who would Al-Qaeda pull the lever for in November?

Of the three possibilities, the one least likely to get Al-Qaeda’s vote is John McCain.

I don’t speak for Craig or Matt. They have to post their own opinions.

But now that the battle for the White House is truly joined, you’ll hear no more disparaging remarks from me about Mr. McCain. Is he the best choice? Nope. But, he’s the only choice now.

Can We Just Move Along Now?

Posted by Mark on May 15, 2006

Okay, so the President spoke tonight on immigration. Here’s the money quote from the President:

America needs to conduct this debate on immigration in a reasoned and respectful tone. Feelings run deep on this issue and as we work it out, all of us need to keep some things in mind. We cannot build a unified country by inciting people to anger, or playing on anyone’s fears, or exploiting the issue of immigration for political gain. We must always remember that real lives will be affected by our debates and decisions, and that every human being has dignity and value no matter what their citizenship papers say.

I’ve managed to avoid the whole debate. I haven’t blogged about it. I’ve paid scant attention to the marches and the counter-marches. My commute to work forces me to listen to some of it on Bill Bennett’s morning show, at least until I can find a decent CD to play until he moves on to something else.

The ugly truth is…I don’t care. I know I’m supposed to. I know I should. But, I don’t.

I know too many folks on both sides of this issue to have a firm opinion. So, I’ve avoided the whole question. I just can’t seem to get up a good head of steam on this one. Does anyone else feel this way? Am I alone in my inability to get all emotional about immigration?

Or is my attitude what’s needed to actually come up with real solutions to the problem? Can we step away from the yelling, the emotion of both sides and actually look at the issue of immigration? The history of our nation tends to say we can’t. From “Irish Need Not Apply” to “No Chinese Wanted Here” to the Know Nothing Party, American history has been one long adjustment to the stranger coming to our shores. That Stranger has always forced change on society. It was true of the Irish, the Eastern Europeans, the Chinese, and the Boat People. It’s true now of the Hispanic Immigration. Yet, assimilation has occurred. And it will occur again.

America has always been a balance between stability and change, fresh blood and bloody prejudice. Nothing has really changed except the language spoken by the Stranger. In the past it was an Irish brogue, a Mandarin dialect, a Krakow accent. Today it’s Espanol. Yet adjustment has occurred, and America has continued.

Because America is more than a language. It’s an idea, a standard of freedom. That’s why the Stranger keeps coming to our shores; the hope that they can stop being the Stranger and become the grocer, the teacher, the Neighbor Next Door, and ultimately, the Citizen in the next voting booth.

But Americans have stopped teaching the American idea, that tapestry of true myth that binds us together. We’ve stopped telling our children the American stories, the Story of America. Chopping Down the Cherry Tree. The Miracle at Philadelphia. The Duel. Lexington and Concord. Valley Forge. The Battle of New Orleans. Shilo and Gettysburg. The Ardennes and Armistice. Bataan and the USS Missouri. Columbus and Ponce de Leon. Washington and Jefferson. Adams and Madison. North and South. Lincoln. Grant. Lee. Whitney. Edison and Einstein. Glenn and Armstrong.

And the silence is deafening. In order to drown out the silence, we substitute “multi-culturalism.” And in doing so, lose that which makes us Americans. The silencing of the American stories in our schools is frightening.

The fear of that silence, of losing who we are produces fences, National Guard troops on our borders, and a desire to stop the Stranger. When we stop telling the American stories of which we are a part, we lose that which makes us Americans. We become strangers to each other, separate from those we once called Neighbors and fellow Citizens. In becoming strangers to each other, we lose the ability to welcome the Stranger from beyond our borders. When we silence the history of who we have been, we lose who we are, and therefore, who we may become.

Zaphriel Rallied FOR Immigration

Posted by zaphriel on April 17, 2006

I will be on flights all day today, so I reposted this post so you would have something worthwhile to read.

Yeah, that’s right, I, as well as Nevada Independant Conservatives, and Northern Nevada Protest Warriors, held a rally Saturday FOR Immigration…

PICT0074.JPG

LEGAL Immigration that is.

Carson City, NV -
It was a windy Saturday morning, when concerned citizens and activists alike joined to show their support for LEGAL immigration… In stark contrast to the Several Hundred High School Students that skipped classes to protest Immigration Reform last week.

Not surprisingly, even though the media was well informed of the event, no-one showed except one “Ahora” reporter… No cameras, no TV stations… nothing. Except lots of support from the community. The entire afternoon was a barrage of horns honking in support of the few hundred pro-LEGAL-immigration ralliers.

Immigration Works

Posted by zaphriel on April 13, 2006

The situation, in a nutshell.

My sentiments on immigration are inscribed at the foot of the Statue of Liberty: “. . . Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

These words of poet Emma Lazarus served as the welcome mat for tens of millions seeking liberty and opportunity in America — legally. Being a relatively land-rich and labor-scarce nation, immigration has always been good for our country. Plus, for most of our history, there was a guarantee that immigrants would come here to work. The alternative was starvation.

With today’s welfare state, there’s no such guarantee. People can come here, not work and not starve because the welfare state guarantees that they can live off the rest of us.

Inmigración

Muddying the waters and diluting the issue.

More Immigrants Take to Streets to Protest Proposed Laws

ATLANTA — Thousands of demonstrators wearing white T-shirts and waving signs and American flags filled the streets of an immigrant neighborhood Monday for the first of dozens of marches planned in a national day of action billed as a “campaign for immigrants’ dignity.”

The two-mile Atlanta march was in support of immigrant rights nationally as well as in protest of state legislation awaiting Gov. Sonny Perdue’s signature. If signed, it would require that adults seeking many state-administered benefits prove they are in the country legally.

Imagine that, giving services only to those that qualify…

0324immig2.jpgBeyond that, the issue here is not about LEGAL IMMIGRATION. We have a process in place. But as with all liberal causes they turn it into a race issue, using the big words…

XENOPHOBIA
BIGGOTS
RACISM

Twisted thoughts and words, calling to action, and spreading fear among those that are here legally, saying they and their families can be deported (false). This issue, at it’s roots, has nothing to do with LEGAL immigration and everything to do with having a porous border that allows for the vast ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION problem we already have. And to prove the point for us, local advocate groups are planning a walkout…

Workers to walk out over immigration

Hundreds of Northern Nevadans are expected to participate Monday in the National Day of Action for Immigrant Justice, showing the economic impact immigrants have on the state.

Students, community organizations, religious groups and members of labor unions are planning to walk Monday morning from the University of Nevada, Reno and Miguel Ribera Park to Bruce R. Thompson U.S. Court House and Federal Building.

Casinos are unsure how many employees will take part, but some said widespread participation could hamper business.

Nothing like adding fuel to the fire by pointing out how widespread the problems really are.

There is a legal immigration process, we welcome immigrants. I even welcome “guest workers”, but having an uncontrolled, un-accounted for border, is both dangerous and irresponsible.

We need to address the real issues here and stop bickering over “how much amnesty” to give. Enforce the Laws, and Secure our Borders. Why is this a hard thing to do?

Immigration ‘Compromise’ Has Massive Fraud Potential

This is pretty much what I thought of when I heard of the “compromise”. More non-action, great. Seems to me they sidestepped the whole issue in the Senate and “compromised” just to get something on the table.
